Detoxing or cleansing are buzz words in the health world today. I’m pleased that more people now know that they can cleanse or detox their bodies by eating fresh vegetables and fruits grown organically or without pesticides. Consuming these vegetables and fruits in their raw state by juicing is especially effective and we are fortunate in Charlotte that if we don’t have the time or equipment we can buy these juices from reputable vendors. (Viva Raw and Luna’s Living Kitchen are two I recommend.) Raw juicing strengthens the liver and kidneys, 2 important organs that remove toxins from our bodies.
We are purposeful when we decide to improve our health by detoxing our bodies. However, we don’t necessarily think consciously about detoxing our minds and our hearts, both of which are as important if not more important for improving our health. Meditation and erasing your mind of thoughts, especially negative thoughts, is a good way to mentally detox. Think of it as a time-out from thinking so you can just “be”. If done daily, think of it as erasing your blackboard so you can start fresh the next day. Think of it any way you choose and do it regularly to reap the many benefits.
How do we detox our hearts? Do whatever you can to realize that you may have feelings that you have not expressed. Once you realize this, do whatever you can to bring these feelings to the surface so you can express them. By expressing these feelings, your heart will be cleansed. You will then be more conscious of continuing to open your heart to protect it from toxic buildup.
